CoralRx was developed in 2006 for two reasons: to treat corals suffering from parasites, and as a preventative measure to promote healthy corals before parasites or harmful bacterial infections occur. CoralRx is very tough on parasites, but harmless to your coral (it contains no iodine or oxidants), allowing you to be proactive in protecting your investment.
Independent Tests
Coral Rx was independently tested by Andrew Lynford, MS in Biology from Hofstra University. This investigation attempted to quantify the effectiveness of eradicating three species of flatworms: Flatworm Out, Coral Rx, and Povidone. His research is available in an article published on the front page of Advanced Aquarist, April 2009. Here are some excerpts from his findings:.
Coral Rx is the most effective treatment…
Coral Rx is applied along with a coral dip, and it is recommended that coral farms, wholesalers, retailers, aquariums, and hobbyists use this product when acclimating newly acquired corals.
Chemical treatments are used as a preventative protocol to eradicate flatworms before they are introduced into the aquarium. These chemical treatments are carried out by giving the coral a small dip.
Acclimating corals and live rock with these dips is the best way to treat marine flatworms, as it prevents their introduction and avoids problems related to the release of convolutrilobid toxins.
Coral Rx – a different type of coral dive
Coral Rx was designed with the health of your coral in mind. Our proprietary blend of natural ingredients contains no iodine, which is known to stain corals, and no oxidants whose byproducts are often toxic and continue to react with the surrounding tissue. Independent research is currently investigating the effectiveness of iodine treatments. Take a look at this feature article in the April 2009 issue of Advanced Aquarist.
Treatment
Coral Rx can be used to treat many types of soft corals, including LPS and SPS. It can also be used to treat corals with parasites or other bacterial infections. Furthermore, it should be used as a preventative treatment before adding your corals to the aquarium.
Coral Rx should not be used on fish, shrimp, crabs, snails, clams, or other invertebrates. We have not tested the effectiveness of Coral Rx on the parasite "Red Bugs".
