Plants provide the aquarium with oxygen, which is vital for its inhabitants. They also prevent algae growth and eliminate harmful substances. The JBL fertilization system delivers CO2, the plants' primary nutrient, to them via the water. The plants absorb it and, with the help of light, convert it into sugars and oxygen through photosynthesis.Difference between bio-CO2 systems and CO2 cylinders: Bio-CO2 kits are based on a biological yeast fermentation process that produces CO2. Two biological components react in a reaction tank. To replenish the system after approximately 40 days, simply refill the reaction tank with water and the two components. In CO2 kits with cylinders, the CO2 gas in the cylinders is pressurized to approximately 60 bar. Once empty, the cylinders can be refilled (refillable cylinders, System M) or, if they are single-use cylinders (System U), replaced.
Plants don't care at all about the source of the CO2, whether it comes from a biological system or a cylinder. They grow significantly better once a CO2 system is installed. These systems are quite important for aquarists. Do they want disposable or refillable cylinders, or a pressure-free biological system?
In addition to CO2 fertilization, it is also important to pay attention to the other components necessary for healthy growth of aquarium plants: good light (e.g. JBL LED SOLAR), sufficient fertilization of minerals and trace elements (JBL PROFLORA FERROPOL), ideally root fertilization in case of significant root development with JBL PROFLORA FERROPOL ROOT / The 7 pellets, the right water temperature (between 23 and 26 °C) and no plant-eating fish.
