The ideal composition of rearing food depends on many factors. Fry are growing rapidly and need nutrients for their development. Essential vitamins and the bioelement inositol help strengthen the immune system and are therefore included in the required quantities.
For fry, it is very important that the food size is appropriate for the size of their mouths. It's better to give them food that is too small than too large! The correct phosphate content is crucial for healthy bone formation. A lack of phosphates and calcium leads to bone deformities.

When the fry are large enough, it's ideal to supplement their diet with live brine shrimp (Artemia salina). JBL offers a complete range: JBL Artemio.

A distinction is made between fry of oviparous and ovoviviparous species. Fry of oviparous species are significantly smaller after hatching and initially feed on infusoria (microorganisms). Many species also accept liquid food (JBL PRONOVO BEL FLUID). Shortly after, they will accept finely powdered food (JBL PRONOVO BEL BABY TOM or the powder from the first box of the JBL PRONOVO BABY kit). Once they have grown a little more, you can switch to the second box of JBL PRONOVO BABY. If you are caring for parents (e.g., cichlids), use a long pipette or a piece of tubing to feed the dissolved food directly to the fry. In oviparous species and mouthbrooders, the fry are larger and immediately eat the food from the 2nd box of JBL PRONOVO BABY and live artemia (JBL Artemio System).
