Bottom-dwelling fish tend to forage on the substrate, making food tablets an ideal solution for them. Sinking pellets for other fish will also reach the bottom, but only if you've given too much! Therefore, it's wise to feed bottom-dwelling fish and open-water species separately.
The Special Species Biological Concept:
Bottom dwellers also have different dietary requirements.
Almost all bottom-dwelling fish will eat JBL PRONOVO TABS, but open-water species quickly learn by smell that the tablets are edible. Very large fish will eat them whole, while smaller ones will nibble at them. As soon as the tablet sticks to the glass, all the fish love to eat it, and it's very enjoyable to watch them.
Among plecos, many species are primarily herbivores (e.g., blue catfish, Ancistrus dolichopterus). JBL PRONOVO PLECO was created for them. But among the Locariidae family, there are species like the zebra pleco (Hypancistrus zebra = L 46) or the leopard pleco (Pseudacanthicus cf. leopardus = L 114) which, while not predators, prefer animal matter to plants.
Armored catfish have a fairly wide range of diets. JBL PRONOVO CORYDORAS (Corydoras = the scientific name for the genus) therefore contains suitable ingredients, such as shrimp and spirulina. For a healthy diet, Corydoras need a varied diet. Shrimp serve as a good example of all small animal organisms and also the flesh of dead fish that these fish find in the substrate with their barbels. Loaches are more omnivorous and enjoy snails, but will sometimes also eat aquarium plants. For them, JBL has developed PRONOVO BOTIA.
