In nature, Bucephalandra usually grows on rocks or roots in rivers and streams – much like Anubias, which it resembles with regard to use and care in the aquarium.
Bucephalandra 'Bukit Kalem' is an easy-to-grow, slow-growing plant that prefers lower light. Its branching ensures a beautiful, dense appearance, even without pruning.
The green leaves are 2 cm wide and 5 cm long with wavy edges. Small white spots appear on the leaves when submerged.
The creeping stem, the rhizome, must not be covered when planting. This would cause the plant to rot and die.
