This beautiful variant of Cryptocoryne wendtii grows only in the Mi Oya River in Sri Lanka. It is distinguished by its slightly puckered, reddish-brown leaves that reach 15 to 30 cm in length. The rosette is 15 to 30 cm wide. Many cryptocorynes tolerate high temperatures; this one was found in water exceeding 30°C.
