Hydrocotyle tripartita comes from Southeast Asia and will grow as a ground cover, reaching 5 to 10 cm in height. It is likely a variant of Hydrocotyle tripartita, often called Hydrocotyle 'Japan'.

This variety stands out with its rapid, compact growth and small, bright green leaves atop upright stems. This plant forms a mat whose compact growth can be encouraged by applying manual pressure to the mat during aquarium maintenance. Good lighting will also be beneficial.
