South American Lilaeopsis brasiliensis can become very dense, but a truly "turfy" effect can only be achieved with strong lighting. Its height then is 4 to 7 cm. It can be propagated by scattering small bunches (approximately 1/8 of a pot) in the aquarium, a few centimeters apart to accelerate the plant's spread. Place it in an area clear of other plants so that it receives plenty of light. Lilaeopsis brasiliensis can also be planted in garden ponds. It tolerates brackish water as long as the salt concentration is not excessive.
