Tissue crop aquarium plant in sealed cup.
A decorative, floating South American plant, particularly well-suited to uncovered aquariums. It grows to a height of 1 to 5 cm and each plant is 5 to 15 cm in diameter. It also thrives in traditional aquariums where its long, thin, and aesthetically pleasing roots provide security for gouramis and other surface-dwelling fish that enjoy swimming among the roots of floating plants.
If the water is rich in nutrients and there is sufficient light, new leaves will emerge above the water's surface. Conversely, when the level of available nutrients decreases, its growth will be slowed, making it an excellent indicator of nutrient levels in the water.
