With its warm red, wavy leaves, Rotala macrandra 'Japan' is one of the most beautiful stem plants. It needs very bright light and CO2 supplementation to thrive. Plant in groups; cut the longest stems back to 5-10 cm from the ground and replant them.
The shortened stems will often produce new shoots.
