Schismatoglottis prietoi may resemble Anubias, with elliptical leaves 3 to 8 cm long. However, its growth is faster, and it thrives best when planted in the lower layer of soil, where it readily produces runners.

It is an undemanding and easy-to-care-for plant that thrives in most aquariums, even in very low light. Schismatoglottis prietoi grows naturally in the rivers of the Philippines, where it often appears in large, dense groups.
