The Staurogyne repens stem plant is a compact, robust, green foreground aquarium plant native to the Rio Cristalino in southern Brazil's Amazon region.
Its closest relative in the aquarium hobby is Hygrophila, but Staurogyne is distinguished by its compact, bushy form and smaller leaves.
The stem reaches 5-10 cm in height and 3-4 cm in width. When planting, pinch back and replant the longest shoots so that Staurogyne develops new horizontal growth from the base.
