The Asian bladderwort Utricularia graminifolia belongs to the bladderwort family, which are all perennial aquatic insectivorous plants. In nature, it lives in nutrient-poor areas, hence the need to catch and digest small insects.
This family is characterized in particular by the unique bladders borne by the plants and which also form on Utricularia graminifolia some time after its arrival in the aquarium.
It can be used as ground cover or between rocks and can reach 2 to 8 cm in height. The name of this species means "grass-leaved" and the fresh green leaves quickly form a pretty little carpet resembling a lawn.
Utricularia graminifolia is therefore the ideal plant for the foreground.
