The precise and durable multi-ion sensor, specially developed by GHL for seawater analysis, requires no reagents; economical calibration fluids are used for automatic calibration. Inaccurate, time-consuming, and expensive measurement methods, such as test kits, are a thing of the past.
In addition to measurement, the ION Director system offers many other functions:
Control: Automatic readjustment of the dosing pumps to maintain a stable value.
Monitoring: Alarm when the value is outside a (configurable) range.
Analysis: Display in graphs and logbook (via the app, cloud, GHL Connect web server, and GHL Control Center).
Combine the ION Director with the KH Director and measure and control the KH value in addition to Ca, Mg, K, Na, and NO3.
ION Director – Features
Unique multi-ion sensor
Compact and accurate laboratory-grade multi-ion sensor, specially developed by GHL for seawater analysis, which combines the functions of several sensors.
No liquid reagents required.
There is no need to use reagent liquids to perform the measurements.
Precise measurement.
Extreme precision thanks to special electronics, sensors and measurement algorithms developed and perfected by GHL.
Economical and safe reference fluid.
Economic measures due to low consumption and inexpensive reference fluids.
Adjustable measurements per day
The number of measurements per day can be defined, additional measurements can be started manually at any time.
Automatic calibration
To obtain the maximum possible accuracy, a fully automatic calibration of the sensor is carried out before each measurement.
Historical Measurement Values:
Using the historical measurement values, you can interpret previous measurement results and react to fluctuations.
Automatic adjustment of dosing quantities
In order to obtain stable water parameters, ION Director® can automatically readjust the dosing quantities of the supplied liquids according to the measurement result.
LED Status Display:
The LED-illuminated GHL logo provides color-coded status indicators. The different colors show you your system's status at a glance.
White = configuration mode;
Blue = normal operation;
Green = Measurement or dosing in progress;
Yellow = warning threshold – product tank(s) are low;
Red = alarm threshold – liquid tank(s) are empty
WiFi, app, and much more:
GHL devices offer the widest range of connectivity options. You can choose between an app, cloud storage, a web interface, or PC software via WiFi/LAN or USB.
Seamless integration into the GHL system:
Thanks to the use of the PAB (ProfiLux Aquatic Bus) connection, IOND integrates seamlessly into the modular GHL system. The PAB connection ensures interference-free communication with other GHL PAB devices such as the GHL Doser 2.2 or the ProfiLux® 4.
Low maintenance design
The multi-ion sensor is easily accessible thanks to the well thought-out design of the ION Director® and can be easily cleaned or replaced if necessary.
The measured values are always available from anywhere.
Access measurement results anytime, anywhere, via an app, cloud, web server, or Windows software. View additional values and statuses on the ProfiLux 3/4 or ProfiLux Touch display, if available.
Robust laboratory-grade instrument.
The ION Director®'s design meets laboratory requirements. Like all our instruments, it is manufactured with high-quality materials for a long service life.
Technical specifications:
ION Director® is available in two colors: black or white
Dimensions (mm): 220 x 150 x 75 mm (sensor without output)
Dimensions (in): 8.66" x 5.9" x 2.95" (sensor without output)
ION Director® includes the following elements:
Device with integrated measuring cell.
Multi-ion sensor specially designed for IOND, including calibration liquids.
5m silicone tube.
Power separator cable.
ION Director pairs perfectly with the KH Director.
KH
Director ION, White.
ION Director® can be used alone or in combination with the KH Director®.
With IOND and KHD, you can fully automate the regulation of essential aquarium water parameters. While KHD measures and controls alkalinity, IOND covers other important parameters necessary for maintaining a healthy reef.
Maintain a healthy reef –
Easily done with the Ion Director® + KH Director® powerpack.
How does the ION Director® work?
The ION Director® is designed as an accessory and requires a GHL Doser 2 Standalone or ProfiLux (3 or 4) aquarium controller with a GHL Doser 2 Slave controller to operate; see configurations below.
Four pump heads are required to perform the measurement.
To achieve the highest possible measurement accuracy, each test is performed with a freshly calibrated sensor. Two pump heads are used to deliver the necessary reference fluids. After automatic calibration, a sample of aquarium water is pumped into the ION Director®.
Once the measurement is complete, the water sample is pumped again and collected in a separate container for later disposal.
How can the measured parameters be controlled?
Thanks to the innovative technology of ION Director®, each parameter can be measured precisely and automatically regulated. If a parameter is too low or too high, IOND can automatically calculate the amount by which the doses need to be adjusted to maintain stable values. It is therefore also suitable for various systems such as Balling® (Light) or Triton®.
Choose the optimal control mode for your aquarium and adjust it individually.
After a measurement, the difference between the actual value and the desired value (setpoint) is known. The following control modes operate based on this difference.
Additional control mode:
The defined dosing quantities of certain dosing pumps are readjusted according to the determined deviation; the user defines the quantity (in ml) by which the dosing quantity should change in the event of a certain deviation.
Adaptive control mode
Works like the Add-On control mode, but here the user determines the percentage change in the defined dosage quantity for a certain deviation.
Configuration options
The ION Director® can be used in two ways:
1. The ION Director® is connected to the GHL Doser 2 (2.2) autonomously via the ProfiLux aquatic bus (PAB).
Doser 2 and ION Director
In this configuration, the GHL doser controls the measurement process: it controls the dosing pumps and evaluates the measurement results.
2. The ION Director® is connected to the ProfiLux (3 or 4) and to a GHL Doser 2 slave (2.2) via the ProfiLux aquatic bus (PAB).
P4, Doser 2, IOND
In this configuration, ProfiLux controls the measurement process: it controls the dosing pumps of the doser and analyzes the measurement results.
Choose the combination that best suits your needs.
Whether you prefer the GHL Doser 2.2 or P4-Slave Doser combination: thanks to its ingenious design, all devices will fit together perfectly, whether stacked or positioned side by side.
We also offer attractive kits for the ION Director® and GHL Doser combinations.
ION Director® Sets
IOND operation always requires a GHL dosing unit with 4 pumps, depending on the configuration, whether in slave or standalone mode.
GHL offers these sets:
IOND + GHL Doser 2.2 standalone 4-way
IOND + GHL Doser 2.2 Slave 4-way
Both sets offer a significant price advantage compared to purchasing them separately. They are available in white and black and in the following national versions: Schuko, UK, CH, USA/CND, AUS. The sets include a PAB cable (50 cm / 19.6″).
