Flatworms (also known as turbellaria or slugworms) are unwelcome guests in aquariums and can sometimes be dangerous to your little charges.
Because of their nocturnal lifestyle, many aquarium owners are unaware of the presence of these parasites.
These animals multiply rapidly, eventually infesting the aquarium.
In freshwater aquariums, small shrimp and newly molted shrimp, their brood, as well as weakened animals, young fish, and eggs are among their favorite prey.
But flatworms and turbellaria are also found in marine aquariums, where they can damage coral and other animals in the event of a large infestation.
Almost all available chemicals harm not only the flatworms but also the most sensitive inhabitants of the aquarium.
