Water temperature in aquariums is crucial for both animals and plants, so it's essential to monitor it carefully. Most tropical ornamental fish thrive in water between 24 and 26°C. However, some fish prefer cooler temperatures. Discus, from the cichlid family, are among the fish that find slightly warmer temperatures, between 27 and 29°C, ideal. Axolotls and many freshwater shrimp, on the other hand, prefer cooler water. Water temperature can be raised using submersible heaters (such as the JBL PROTEMP s or JBL PROTEMP e) and lowered using chillers (such as the JBL Cooler).
