Gratiola viscidula originates from North America and is a relatively recent addition to the aquarium hobby.
When submerged, its spiny appearance makes it very distinctive and easily recognizable. The plant prefers good lighting and is fairly easy to care for. With frequent pruning, it can be kept very low, almost forming a carpet. By grouping a few small plants together, it can also create a beautiful bushy effect in the midground of the aquarium.
Each stem is approximately 1-2 cm wide and can reach 10+ cm in height. The stem branches easily and forms lateral shoots, giving it a compact and bushy appearance.
