Calcium Automat
In 1989, Tunze® Aquariantechnik developed the first limestone reactor with dissolution of aggregate by carbonic acid. In this original principle, water enriched in CO2 crosses a limestone substrate using a pump. Carbon dioxide reacts with water to form carbonic acid which in turn dissolves calcium carbonate. This water enriched with carbonates then leaves the reactor circuit. The new generation of devices consists of three models:
Calcium Automat 3170 for aquariums from 150 to 500 liters, it is particularly designed for internal use of the aquarium (which is rarely the case on the market) but also for filtration under aquarium even with a very low water level.
Calcium Automat 3171 is studied for installations under aquariums and for aquariums up to 1,200 liters, with a 1.85 -liter aggregate capacity.
Calcium Automat 3172 for filtration under aquarium is suitable for more substantial installations, well beyond 2,000 liters and depending on the coral load. Its granulate capacity is 10 liters, it has a particularly high yield.
All models have the ability to vacuum food which greatly facilitates their commissioning. The water flow is adjusted before entering the aggregate and therefore remains very constant in time. All devices have a re-aspiration of non-dissolved gases and require little CO2 for their operation. The 3171 and 3172 models use a large lid and have a special fitting for the integration of a pH probe (optional for 3170).
