The combatants are peaceful aquarium residents and get along well with all fish not entering their mouths. Only a male of the same species will be fought until death - hence their name! These pretty fish with long fins present in our pet stores are all of the species Betta Splendens, also also used in Asia for fighting. Fighters and many other labyrinth fish (gouramis, parcels and macropods) live in both stagnant and common waters. Embliling hunters, they suddenly propel themselves to catch their insects with their mouths placed on the surface of the water. They do not eat any aquarium plants and do not need a lot of space. For female maintenance alongside a male, several females should be provided. A single female would be too harassed by the male. The best -known fighter species build bubble nests on the surface of the water, monitored by the male. Other species of combatants practice oral incubation. They keep the eggs in their mouths until the frys are born and are large enough to manage on their own. The parameters of the water are not really decisive for the combatants. They favor fresh water and pH between 6.5 and 7.5, but can also accommodate other parameters. It is important that their food corresponds to their natural diet. JBL Pronovo Betta in flakes or pellets will be their basic diet. Three varieties are available to choose from: the Betta Flakes pronovo, the Betta Grano pronovo and the Betta Insects pronovo. These 3 foods for combatants contain astaxanthine, which allows you to develop intense coloring. They will feel comfortable in the presence of a few floating plants and an environment rich in vegetation.
